Arsenal player Oleksandr Zinchenko has returned to Ukraine after the end of the football season in England and met with President Volodymyr Zelensky on the first day of his visit. During the meeting, Zinchenko and former Ukrainian footballer Andriy Shevchenko presented the idea of holding a charity match in support of Ukraine in London. The match, called Game4Ukraine, will feature football legends to help raise funds for the rehabilitation of schools in the Chernihiv region. The charity match is set to take place on August 5 at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea’s home stadium.

The Office of the President of Ukraine published a short video of Zelensky’s meeting with Zinchenko and Andriy Shevchenko, who visited Kyiv with his eldest son Jordan.

Zinchenko and Shevchenko presented the idea to Zelensky to hold a charity match in support of Ukraine in London.

“Together with Andrei Nikolayevich, we plan to make a match where there will be football legends. Not only those who currently play in the Premier League or other championships. He will also become a world football legend. The goal is to raise funds for the rehabilitation of schools in the Chernihiv region. Another goal of the match is that we will feel the support of stars from all over the world,” said Zinchenko.

  • In the 2022/23 Premier League season, 26-year-old Zinchenko made 27 appearances for Arsenal, scoring one goal and making two assists.
  • The Game4Ukraine charity match will take place on August 5 at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea’s home stadium.
