Former Shakhtar midfielder Mikhail Mudrik has responded to the dismissal of Igor Jovicevich as the head coach of the Donetsk team. Jovicevich officially resigned from his position on July 1, with Shakhtar’s management deciding to terminate his contract ahead of schedule. Mudrik, who played for Shakhtar under Jovicevich in the first half of last season, expressed his gratitude and love for the coach in a social media post. Jovicevich had led Shakhtar to the league title and the Europa League round of 16 during his tenure. Mudrik, on the other hand, has since moved to Chelsea for a record-breaking transfer fee.

Igor Jovićević officially resigned as head coach of Shakhtar on Saturday, July 1. Pitmen’s management decided to terminate the contract with the mentor ahead of schedule, which is valid until June 2024.

Mykhailo Mudrik, who played for Donetsk in the first half of last season under the Croatian, published a photo with the coach and turned to him.
“Teacher, thank you very much! I love you. See you again,” wrote Mudrik on his social network.

- Jovičević, 49, took over Shakhtar in July last year and led the Donetsk side to the league title. The Pitmen finished third in their Champions League group and advanced to the Europa League round of 16.
- Mudrik, 22, played under the Croat side for Shakhtar in the first half of last season and made 18 appearances, scoring ten goals and making eight assists.
- In January, Mikhail moved to Chelsea London for 100 million euros, including bonuses, and signed a contract until 2031.
