Lionel Messi, the Argentina and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) striker, will leave the French club at the end of this season and become a free agent. Messi’s departure was confirmed by PSG head coach Christophe Galtier, who described him as “the best player in the history of football.” After two seasons with PSG, Messi’s contract with the club expires this summer, and he has no intention of extending it for another season. There have been reports of potential career options for Messi, including a move to Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia for a substantial sum of money or signing a contract with Inter Miami and being loaned to Barcelona.

Lionel Messi after two seasons in Paris decided to leave the French club. This summer, the Argentine’s contract with PSG expires, and he does not intend to exercise the option provided in it to extend another season.

Messi’s departure was officially announced by PSG head coach Christophe Galtier.

“I had the privilege of coaching the best player in the history of football. This will be Lionel Messi’s last match at the Parc des Princes against Clermont,” football insider Fabrizio Romano quoted Christophe Galtier as saying.

It’s worth noting that yesterday there was information about potential career options for Lionel:

  • He could go to Al-Hilal from Saudi Arabia for big money;
  • Either signed a contract with Inter Miami and was loaned to Barcelona.

Messi played 74 games in two years at PSG, scoring 32 goals and making 35 assists. As part of the French club, he won Ligue 1 twice and the country’s Super Cup once.

PSG’s match with Clermont is scheduled for June 3 and will start at 22:00 Kyiv time.
