On Tuesday, May 9, Arman Soldin, a journalist from the Agence France-Presse (AFP) French news agency, died near Bakhmut – he received criticism from the Russian Grad.


The French agency AFP News Agency reported that its video journalist Arman Soldin was killed in the war in Ukraine.

A 32-year-old man was killed by a rocket attack.

Arman Soldin and his colleagues from Agence France-Presse at about 16:30 were attacked by rockets by Putin terrorists near Chasov Yar in the Donetsk region, not far from Bakhmut, when they were with the Ukrainian army.

One of the Russian rockets fell near where Soldin was. The reporter is dead. The rest of the reporting team was not injured.

The football community also expressed its condolences to the family of the deceased. Soldin is a devoted fan of Rennes and also played for the U-13 and U-15 teams in 2006-2008.

Originally from Sarajevo, Soldin is a French citizen. He started working for AFP in 2015 as an intern in the Rome office before transferring to London.

The journalist arrived in Ukraine on February 25 and has been leading a group of journalists since then.

“The whole agency was devastated by the loss of Arman. His death is a terrible reminder of the risks and dangers journalists face every day when covering the conflict in Ukraine,” AFP chief Fabrice Fries said.

Recall that according to the media group Reporters Without Borders (RSF) and the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), at least 11 journalists and media teams have been killed by insurgents while covering the war in Ukraine.
