Former Dynamo, Shakhtar, and Ukrainian national team goalkeeper Oleksandr Rybka has joined Obolon Kyiv, a team that recently entered the Ukrainian Premier League. Rybka, who played for FC Lviv last season, has signed with Obolon as a free agent and will wear the number 23 jersey. This move marks Obolon’s first signing since their promotion to the Premier League. Rybka expressed his gratitude for the opportunity and stated that he will do his best to contribute to the team’s success. The 36-year-old goalkeeper is no stranger to Ukrainian football, having previously played for Dynamo, Shakhtar, and Obolon in his career.

Former Dynamo, Shakhtar and Ukrainian national team goalkeeper Oleksandr Rybka moved to Obolon Kyiv, which, following last season’s results, entered the Ukrainian Premier League.


Oleksandr Rybka, who played for FC Lviv in the second half of last season, moved to Obolon as a free agent. The goalkeeper will play for the capital team at number 23. This was officially announced by the press service of the Kyiv club.

The duration of the player’s contract with Obolon has not been disclosed. Rybka’s move was the first for the Kyivans after reaching the Premier League.

Oleksandr commented on his move to the Ukrainian Premier League rookie squad.

“I am grateful to the management and coaching staff for choosing me. I will do everything to benefit the team. I think that Obolon deserves to enter the Premier League. I am sure that the players will do everything possible to make the management satisfied with us,” said Rybka.

Rybka said he is ready to compete for a place in Obolon with goalkeepers Nazariy Fedorivsky, Maxim Borisyuk and Artem Kichak.

“I am ready to compete. Competition never hurt anyone. Instead, it will be a powerful force. Everyone will give their best in training, fight for a place on the football field,” said Rybka in an interview with the Obolon press service.

  • The 36-year-old Rybka is a graduate of Dynamo. Alexander played for Kiev from 2009 to 2010, and also from 2014 to 2017. The goalkeeper played 64 matches for the White-Blues and conceded 52 goals.
  • From 2011 to 2012, the footballer defended the colors of Shakhtar Donetsk, for which he played 26 matches and scored 21 goals.
  • Rybka previously played for Obolon from 2010 to 2011 and played in 29 matches where he scored 35 goals.
  • In the second half of last season, the goalkeeper played for FC Lviv, which was relegated from the UPL, and played 11 matches, conceding 22 goals.
  • As part of the Ukrainian national team, Rybka played two matches in 2011.
