Lionel Messi has announced his transfer to American club Inter Miami as a free agent, partnering with Ukrainian defender Serhiy Kryvtsov. Kryvtsov joined the David Beckham-owned team from Shakhtar Donetsk in January, becoming the second Ukrainian player in history to play in the same team as Messi. The first was defender Dmitry Chygrynskiy, who played for Barcelona alongside Lionel during the 2009/10 season.

Lionel Messi today, June 7, announced his transfer to the American Inter Miami from the French PSG in the status of a free agent.
The legendary Argentine striker is partnered with Ukrainian defender Serhiy Kryvtsov, who joined David Beckham’s club from Shakhtar Donetsk in January.

Kryvtsov will become the second Ukrainian player in history to play in the same team as Messi. The first is defender Dmitry Chygrynskiy, who played for Barcelona alongside Lionel in the 2009/10 season.

- The 38-year-old Chygrynskiy moved from Shakhtar to Barcelona in the summer of 2009 for 25 million euros and made 14 appearances for the Catalan side, but failed to impress. Dmitry and Lionel took to the field together in 13 fights.
- A year later, Dmitry returned to the Donetsk club, which paid 15 million euros for the transfer.
- Last season, the defender played for Ionikos in Greece’s second division, but left the club in May.
- The 32-year-old Kryvtsov played 15 games for Inter Miami and scored one goal. The Ukrainian defender’s contract with the American club is valid until the end of 2024.
