Former River Plate coach Marcelo Gallardo has reportedly accepted an invitation from Europe, with French team Marseille rumoured to be interested in appointing him as their new head coach. Current coach Igor Tudor has apparently informed the team of his decision to leave the club at the end of the season. Gallardo is said to be the first choice to replace him, having won numerous titles with River Plate during his tenure as coach, including two Copa Libertadores. Marseille finished third in Ligue 1 under Tudor’s leadership this season and will play in the Champions League qualifiers.

Yesterday, rumors circulated in the media that Marseille head coach Igor Tudor will not remain in the team for next season, informing the team of his decision to leave the Olympics.
Journalist Santiago Auna wrote on Twitter that Marseille’s first choice should Tudor leave is Marcelo Gallardo, who is popular with Marseille’s management.

The 47-year-old Gallardo led the Argentine River Plate from 2014 to 2022. The coach won many titles with the team:
- one Argentine tournament;
- three Argentine Cups;
- two Argentine Super Cups;
- two Copa Libertadores.
- Tudor took over Marseille last summer. Under his leadership, the team finished third in Ligue 1 and will play in the Champions League qualifiers.
- Remember, Ukrainian midfielder Ruslan Malinovsky plays for Marseille. The 30-year-old midfielder moved to the Provencal club in the winter transfer window from Atalanta. During his six months in France, he managed to take part in 22 matches where he scored two goals and made one assist.
