French football club, Marseille, are reportedly interested in hiring Lille’s head coach, Paulo Fonseca, as their new head coach. The 50-year-old former Shakhtar coach is said to be one of Marseille’s top choices to replace Igor Tudor, who recently left the club. Marseille is said to be in talks with Lille to buy out Fonseca’s contract, which runs until the end of next season. English clubs are also said to be interested in Fonseca’s services, but Marseille is said to have the advantage of being his second choice. Marseille finished third in the Ligue 1 this season, while Lille finished fifth.

Marseille, whose skin colors are defended by Ukrainian midfielder Ruslan Malinovsky, are interested in the services of Lille head coach Paulo Fonseca, who previously managed Shakhtar.


Paulo Fonseca is one of Marseille’s top choices to replace head coach Igor Tudor. According to media reports, the 45-year-old Croatian expert himself decided to leave the club.

Journalist Marwan Belkacem on his Twitter channel said that Marseille is ready to negotiate with Lille to buy Fonseca’s contract, which is valid until the end of next season. The club wants to make a final decision this week.

The source also added that English clubs are following the Portuguese coach. However, the advantage for Marseille is that Fonseca is not at the top of their shortlist.
