Ukrainian football club Lviv Karpaty has announced the appointment of Myron Markevich as head coach. Markevich, who was previously in charge of Dnipro, will take on the role after Karpaty failed to qualify for the Premier League from the First League last season. The 72-year-old Markevych has previously held the role at Karpaty four times, leading the team to the bronze medal of the Ukrainian championship in the 1997/98 season and reaching the final of the Ukrainian Cup twice. He will become the oldest head coach in PFL history.

The famous Ukrainian specialist Myron Markevich was officially appointed as the head coach of Lviv Karpaty, who failed to qualify for the Premier League from the First League at the end of the season.


Myron Markevich has been appointed as the head coach of Karpaty. This was officially announced by the press service of the Lviv club. The duration of the agreement was not disclosed.

Miron Bogdanovich’s last place of work was Dnipro, which, under the guidance of the coach, reached the final of the Europa League in the 2014/15 season. Markevich led the Dnipro team from 2014 to 2016.

The 72-year-old Markevych will become the oldest head coach in PFL history. Previously, the record was held by Vladimir Sysenko (SK Poltava) and Yuriy Chumak (Kremin-2).

  • Markevich previously came to the post of head coach of Karpaty four times (1992-1995, 1996-1999, 2001-2002, 2003-2004). Mentor led the Lviv team to the bronze medal of the Ukrainian championship in the 1997/98 season, and also reached the final of the Ukrainian Cup twice (1993, 1999).
  • From 2005 to 2014, the specialist led Kharkiv Metalist and won a silver medal with the team in the 2012/13 season, and also led the Yellow-Blues to bronze five times.
  • From February to August 2010, Markevych led the Ukrainian national team.
  • From 2016 to 2021, Miron Bogdanovich worked as the head of the national team committee at UAF.
