Inter Miami, the Major League Soccer club co-owned by David Beckham, has announced the departure of its head coach, Phil Neville. The move came after the club lost 1-0 to New York Red Bulls in the US Championship match, marking Neville’s fourth defeat in a row. Assistant head coach Javier Morales will take over as interim head coach, while the rest of the coaching team will remain unchanged. Neville was appointed in January 2021, but the decision was made to part ways with him following the team’s poor performance this season, which has seen them sitting in last place in the Eastern Conference.

On June 1, Inter Miami lost to New York Red Bulls (0:1) in the US Championship match. This defeat was the fourth in a row for the Ukrainian defender Sergiy Kryvtsov.

After this fight, Inter Miami announced the termination of cooperation with the club’s head coach Phil Neville.

Assistant head coach Javier Morales will be acting head coach. Assistant coach Darren Powell, goalkeeping coach Sebastian Saha and assistant coach and performance analyst Alec Scott will remain in their current positions.

The co-owner of the Inter Miami club, David Beckham commented on the termination of cooperation with Neville.

“Phil has made a real contribution to our club culture with his leadership and coaching skills. Sometimes in football we have to make the most difficult decisions, and, unfortunately, we feel that the time has come to change something,” the club’s press service quoted Beckham as saying.
