Famous journalist Sergei Bolotnikov believes that Dnipro-1 striker Artem Dovbik should not hold the record for the most goals scored in a single season of the Ukrainian Premier League. According to Bolotnikov, Dovbik’s 24 goals in 30 games, eight of which came from penalties, falls short of former Shakhtar midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s record of 25 goals in 29 games during the 2012/13 season. Dovbik’s agent has confirmed interest in the player from Spanish club Girona, who also had Ukrainian winger Viktor Tsygankov in their ranks.

“Dovbik did not break the Ukrainian championship record. On the one hand, sorry. Because I want the Ukrainian to be the record holder. On the other hand, man, if you don’t break the record by scoring eight goals from the penalty spot, then you probably don’t need to be the top scorer,” said Bolotnikov in the KDK program.

- It’s worth noting that Dovbik scored 24 goals in 30 Ukrainian championship games this season, eight of them from penalties;
- Former Shakhtar Armenian midfielder Mkhitaryan scored just one goal “from the spot” in his record campaign.
Immediately after completion, Artem Dovbik’s agent Aleksey Lundovsky confirmed interest in his client from Girona, whose colors were defended by Ukrainian winger Viktor Tsygankov.
