There is reportedly tension between the head coach of Alexandria, Ruslan Rotan, and his protégé, according to sports journalist Mikhail Spivakovsky. Oleksandriya failed to beat Rukh in the away match of the 30th round of the Ukrainian Premier League, missing out on the ticket to European competition, which may have led to the conflict. Spivakovsky claimed that Rotan did not attend the post-match press conference and instead stayed in the dressing room with the players. This isn’t the first time Rotan has had a dispute with a player; he previously had a conflict with Brazilian winger Dnepr-1 Peglow on May 11.

The famous sports journalist Mikhail Spivakovsky reported that there was a conflict between the head coach of Alexandria Ruslan Rotan and his protégé.

Oleksandriya failed to beat Rukh in the away match of the 30th round of the Ukrainian Premier League, which took place on June 4, and fell to sixth place in the standings, missing the ticket to the European competition (0:0).

Authoritative sports journalist, Mikhail Spivakovsky said, in the dressing room of the Alexandria team there was a conflict between the head coach Ruslan Rotan and the players.

“Ruslan Rotan did not come to the press conference after the match. And no one came at all. People are sitting in the dressing room. I don’t know what happened there, but I’m afraid to think about it,” said Spivakovsky.

Spivakovsky also recalled the conflict between Rotan and Brazilian winger Dnepr-1 Peglow, which happened on May 11 during the postponed match of the first round of the UPL at the Uzhgorod Avangard stadium.

“Rotan is used to the fact that he is a powerful person in all teams. When Peglow allowed himself to push Rotan, he was told that he wasn’t leaving until he apologized. Peglow apologized to Rotan at the stadium,” Spivakovsky said on the TaToTake YouTube channel.

  • Ruslan Rotan was appointed Oleksandriya’s head coach in the winter and played 17 matches in which the team earned 20 points.
  • Oleksandriya played 30 games, scored 44 points and finished sixth in the Ukrainian Premier League standings.
