Francesco Farioli, who was a potential candidate for the coaching position at Shakhtar Donetsk, has been appointed as the head coach of Nice. Farioli officially took on the role today and will begin his work with the team on July 3. Prior to his appointment at Nice, Farioli was considered for the head coach position at Shakhtar but ultimately decided against it due to family reasons. The 34-year-old coach has previous experience as a goalkeeping coach under Roberto De Zerbi’s staff at Benevento and Sassuolo, as well as head coach positions in Turkey.

The Tuscan was officially introduced today as Nice’s head coach. On July 3, he will begin work after the team returns from vacation.

Farioli, before being appointed to Nice, was one of the candidates for the position of head coach at Shakhtar. The mentor was initially not opposed to coming to Ukraine, but changed his mind because of the family, who did not want to let him go to the war-torn country.

- Farioli, 34, previously worked on former Shakhtar manager Roberto De Zerbi’s staff at Benevento (2017-2018) and Sassuolo (2018-2020) as goalkeeping coach. The specialist has experience as a head coach in Turkey’s Karagumryuk (2021) and Alanyaspor (2021-2023).
