Ukrainian goalkeeper Artur Rudko came to Lekh with high hopes, but in the first game for the new team he made several mistakes scoring goals and went to the reserve.
Artur Rudko’s arrival at Lech should have increased the competition for a place in the starting line-up, but the Ukrainian has failed in his career in Poznan. He cannot be the team’s number one and will leave the Polish club next summer, according to Interia Sport.
At the beginning of the season, Rudko had a terrible meeting with Karabakh (1:5), after which Lech was eliminated from the Champions League qualification. Angry fans attacked the Ukrainian on social networks.
Later, Rudko played only in two matches against Dynamo Batumi (5:0, 1:1) and in the opening match of Ekstraklyasy against Stali Mielec (0:2). After that, the Ukrainian goalkeeper mostly played for Lech’s second team.
“He is an example of an average foreigner who replaces young Poles. The appearance of 23-year-old Bartosz Mrozek, who plays on loan for Stala Mielec, also confirms this thesis. It is expected that Poland will return to Poznan in the summer and will fight for a place in goal,” wrote the Polish newspaper Przegląd Sportowy.
The 31-year-old Rudko’s loan deal with Lech is valid until the end of the current season. The goalkeeper’s contract belongs to Metalist Kharkiv, valid until June 30, 2026.
