Former head coach of Dynamo, Alexander Khatskevich, recently opened up about his reasons for leaving Cyprus club Karmiotissa after just a month and a half. Khatskevich revealed that he clashed with the club’s owner, Dmitry Punin, whom he described as someone who should not be involved in football. He also claimed that the club’s management pressured him to achieve specific results, even hinting at match-fixing. Khatskevich ultimately decided to part ways with the club, citing his refusal to participate in such unethical practices. This revelation sheds light on the dark side of football and the challenges faced by coaches in maintaining their integrity.

Former head coach of Dynamo Alexander Khatskevich frankly spoke about the reasons for leaving Cyprus Karmiotissa, where he worked for a month and a half.

Alexander Khatskevich in September last year headed Karmitissa, but on October 31 he was fired. Six months later, the Belarusian expert spoke frankly about the situation at the club that occurred before his departure.

“In Cyprus, I ran into the owner of the club [россиянином Дмитрием Пуниным]. People like that are not like in football, they should not be around football. The man is not football at all. It can be seen through the club that some personal tasks are being completed.

Khatskevich also said that the management of the club requires him to reach a fixed result – to play at a certain rate, which is made at the bookmaker.

“When I left Cyprus, Karmiotissa had 11 red flags from UEFA – these were matches suspected of foul play. I left after losing 0:4 and even then there were prerequisites in the team.

I have imagined that I should play some fixed results. I said that I will not take part in such a game and we parted,” said Khatskevich in an interview with the SportArena YouTube channel.

  • Khatskevich played six matches in Cyprus, where he scored three wins, one draw and two losses.
  • The Belarusian specialist led Dynamo from 2017 to 2019.
  • Now officially Alexander Khatskevich is unemployed.
