Former Metalist player Papu Gomez has added another international trophy to his collection, winning the Europa League with his current team, Sevilla. The victory marks the seventh time that Sevilla has won the tournament, with the team beating Roma on penalties in the final. Gomez, who watched the game from the bench and did not play, previously played for Metalist in 2013-2014, where he scored four goals and provided six assists in 24 games. He made 26 appearances for Sevilla this season, scoring one goal and providing two assists.

Former Metalist player who switched to Sevilla, Papu Gomez picked up another international trophy in the 2022/23 season, but this time at club level.


At the end of last year, Papu Gomez, together with Lionel Messi in the Argentine national team, won the world title. But yesterday, May 31, the former Metalist player in the Sevilla team became the winner in the Europa League.

Sevilla won this trophy for the seventh time, beating Roma in the last match on penalties (1:1 and 4:1 on penalties). Gomez watched his team’s success from the bench and never entered the field.
