Former Metalist coach and expert Oleg Fedorchuk has shared his thoughts on the team’s chances of returning to the Ukrainian Premier League after being relegated to the bottom. Metalist was relegated to the First League ahead of schedule, and according to Fedorchuk, the fate of their return depends on Alexander Kucher and Yevhen Krasnikov’s future careers at Dnipro-1. Both Kucher and Krasnikov left Metalist due to funding problems before the start of the season and went to work at Dnipro-1, for which the Kharkiv club received financial compensation. Metalist currently has 22 points and is 15th in the standings.

Before the start of the season, head coach Alexander Kucher and vice president Yevhen Krasnikov left Kharkov Metalist due to funding problems. Both went to work at Dnipro-1, for which the Kharkiv club received financial compensation.

At the end of the 2022/23 season, Metalist was relegated to the First League ahead of schedule and, according to Oleg Fedorchuk, his return to the elite team depends on the fate of Kucher and Krasnikov at Dnipro-1.
“I doubt that immediately after the elimination they will be eligible to return to the elite team. FC Lvov might be putting the project on hold, given what I’ve heard. The fate of Metalist depends on how Kucher’s further career in Dnepr-1 develops.
If he and Krasnikov return to the Kharkov club, then everything is possible. From the point of view of strategy, this is one step back, to then take two steps forward,” said Fedorchuk in an interview with Football Ukraine.
After 29 laps, Metalist has 22 points and is 15th in the standings. Together with the Kharkiv club, Lvov also performed ahead of schedule – 13 points.
