Viktor Leonenko drew parallels between the current Shakhtar squad, which won the UPL title one round before the end of the championship, with the legendary Dynamo in 1986, which won the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup and the title in the USSR.

“Why didn’t Shakhtar have a chance? Let’s look at the composition of Dynamo-86: Chanov, Baltacha, Kuznetsov, Demyanenko, Bessonov, Yakovenko, Zavarov, Rat, Yaremchuk, Belanov, Blokhin. I think Oleg Kuznetsov will eat before the match. On the left is Demyanenko crouching and connecting. And I will not talk about Bessonov, you yourself know everything.

Separately, the former soccer player chose the white and blue attack, which “scored everything.”

“I have a feeling that the Shakhtar players will not be able to catch them. Yaremchuk and Rats are running and technical. Yakovenko always had time to clean up after those who made mistakes. It is generally impossible to take the ball from Zavarov. Well, in front of Blokhin just scored everything. And Yevtushenko, when he comes on as a substitute, always scores,” Leonenko said on his Telegram channel.

  • Leonenko played with Dynamo from the summer of 1992 to the summer of 1998. During this time, he participated in 129 matches, in which he scored 79 goals and made one assist.
  • As part of the Ukrainian national team, he played in 14 matches and scored six goals.
