Real Madrid’s press service has confirmed that Karim Benzema, the French star striker, will leave the club at the end of the current season. After 14 years at Real Madrid, the team captain will depart as a free agent after today’s Spanish championship final against Athletic. Benzema will continue his career at Al-Ittihad Arab, who have offered him a two-year contract with a salary of 200 million euros per season. Benzema, who moved to Real Madrid from Lyon in July 2009, made 647 appearances for the Madrid side, scoring 353 goals and 165 assists, which is the best assist in the club’s history and second only to Cristiano Ronaldo.
