Three teams are competing for promotion ahead of the French Ligue 2 finals, with the first and second-placed clubs advancing to the top division. Bordeaux is currently in third place, level on points with second-placed Metz, with goal difference likely to be the deciding factor if there is a tie. Ignatenko has played 36 games in all competitions for Bordeaux this season, scoring two goals and making one assist.

- Metz – 69 points, goal difference 58:31 (+27);
- Bordeaux – 69 points, goal difference 51:27 (+24).
In the event of a tie, goal difference will be taken into account first, and then the higher number of goals scored.
In the 38th round of the French Ligue 2, the following matches will take place:
- Bordeaux – Rodez;
- Havre – Dijon;
- Metz – Bastia.
Bordeaux will qualify for Ligue 1 if one of the following conditions is met:
- victory over Rodez, Metz will not win against Bastia;
- a win over Rodez by four goals more than Metz would beat Bastia;
- victory over Rodez by a difference of at least two goals, defeat of Le Havre;
- minimum win over Rodez, defeat of Le Havre by at least two goals;
- draw in match with Rodez, Metz defeat;
- lost to Rodez, lost to Metz by four goals.

- The 26-year-old Ignatenko has played 36 games in all competitions for Bordeaux this season, scoring two goals and making one assist.
