Metalist head coach Andrey Anishchenko has revealed his plans for the summer off-season and shared his expectations for the team in the upcoming season. Anishchenko, who previously worked with the U-19 team, has been entrusted by Slobozhans to continue developing players at the adult football level. The coach has outlined a series of control matches scheduled for the team, including games against Khust, Minai, Dnieper-1, Karpaty, and Sevlyush. Anishchenko emphasized the importance of the transition from youth to adult football, stating that it will require effort and perseverance from the players. Metalist finished 15th in the standings in the previous season.

On June 24, Metalist announced that Andrei Anishchenko, who worked with the U-19 team last season, will be the team’s new coach.
Slobozhans trusts Anishchenko and his coaching staff to continue developing players at the adult football level. The coach in a comment to the Metalist press service spoke about the team’s immediate plans.
“We have six control matches planned. On July 1 and 2 we will play Khust. Then we are waiting for a meeting with Minai, Dnieper-1 and Karpaty. After this match, we will move to Mukachevo, where we will play a control game with Sevlyush. At the final stage of the training camp, we will have another sparring session with Minai,” said the mentor.

“They are waiting for the transition from youth football to adult football. It will definitely not be easy. Everyone must understand that it takes a lot of effort to overcome this obstacle as quickly as possible. We will do everything to help them, but a lot depends on the players themselves, on their perseverance on and off the field,” added Anishchenko.
At the end of the UPL 2022/23 season, Metalist finished 15th in the standings, having 22 points after 30 matches.
