Metalist Kharkiv has announced that Andrey Anishchenko will become the team’s new head coach after the dismissal of acting coach Peritsa Ognenovich. Anishchenko has previously worked with the youth team of the Kharkiv club, which he led to 15th place in the Ukrainian youth championship last season. The appointment comes after concerns that Metalist may not exist after leaving the Premier League, but the club has announced its intention to play in the First League of the Ukrainian championship next season with a team of young players. Metalist returned to Ukraine’s top division last year after a six-year absence but was relegated to the First League after finishing 15th.

Earlier, there was information that Metallist may no longer exist after leaving the Premier League.
- However, the Kharkiv club plans to play next season in the First League of the Ukrainian championship. The team will consist of young players. This was announced by the famous sports journalist Igor Burbas in his telegram channel.
- Now Metalist is solving the issue regarding its base in the 2023/24 season. Most likely, Kharkiv, who left their hometown after the start of a massive war in Ukraine, will remain in Uzhgorod, where they hosted their rivals last season.
