Sergiy Rebrov, the former Dynamo Kiev head coach, was officially announced as the new head coach of the Ukrainian national team. Rebrov, who previously managed Ferencvaros in Hungary and Al-Ain Arab, spoke about his previous job and the responsibilities that come with his new position. He stated that the club he works for has the maximum goal of becoming champions, which is why each game is separate, but it’s crucial to create all the conditions to achieve the result. In June, the Ukrainian national team will play two official matches as part of the selection for Euro 2024.

The mentor previously led Dynamo Kiev, Ferencvaros Hungary and Al-Ain Arab. Rebrov spoke about his previous job and answered a question from Oleksandr Glyvinsky, press officer of the Ukrainian national team, who suggested that a huge burden of responsibility would fall on the new coach.

“Where is it easy to work? In Dynamo, Ferencváros, Al Ain? A very big responsibility.

The club I work for has the maximum goal, they should be champions. Therefore, here each game is separate, but you need to create all the conditions to achieve the result. Therefore, we will move from one game to another,” said Rebrov in an interview with the UAF YouTube channel.

  • The 49-year-old Rebrov managed Dynamo from 2014 to 2017 and led the Kyiv side to two league titles (2015, 2016), and also won two Ukrainian Cups (2014, 2015).
  • Sergei Stanislavovich worked as the head coach of Ferencváros from 2018 to 2021 and became Hungarian champion three times with him (2019, 2020, 2021).
  • The Ukrainian specialist led Al Ain from 2021 to 2023 and won one UAE championship (2022).

The national team of Ukraine in June will play two official matches as part of the selection for Euro 2024:

  • June 16 – North Macedonia – Ukraine;
  • June 19 – Ukraine – Malta.
