The Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) has officially introduced Serhiy Rebrov as the head coach of the Ukrainian national team. However, journalist Serhiy Bolotnikov still has some questions about the coach’s plans. Bolotnikov praised Rebrov’s move to Ukraine with his family, which will positively impact his involvement in Ukrainian football. But, he was concerned when Rebrov said he was not given the task of building a national team system. Bolotnikov also pointed out that Rebrov did not answer questions about the style of football he plans to play in the Ukrainian national team. The team will play a friendly match against the German team on June 12 and qualifiers for Euro 2024 on June 16 and 19.
Journalist Serhiy Bolotnikov still has some questions after Serhiy Rebrov’s presentation and press conference as head coach of the Ukrainian national team.
Today, June 7, UAF officially introduced Serhiy Rebrov as the head coach of the Ukrainian national team. Immediately after this event, Sergei Bolotnikov shared his thoughts after hearing Rebrov’s answer to a journalist’s question.
Bolotnikov positively assessed Rebrov’s move to Ukraine with his family – this factor will positively affect the expert’s involvement in the reality of Ukrainian football.
“His family will move to Ukraine. This is an important nuance. This means that Rebrov will stay here, will not constantly visit his family and, thus, will be able to work more efficiently – to follow Premier League matches and candidates for the national team.”
But Rebrov’s answer to the topic of building a national team system woke up the journalist, because the expert said that he was not given such a task.
“Rebrov confirmed a contract for 3 years which is two qualifying rounds. But it is rather alarming that he speaks conditionally about building a team system – “if there is such a task.” You mean, UAF, when signing the contract, did not set such a task?

Bolotnikov also stated that Rebrov did not answer questions about the style of football he will play in the Ukrainian national team.
“We don’t hear what kind of football Rebrov wants to put in the team. He admits that Shevchenko’s style is close to his, but no more. Basically, this can be understood without words. But I would like to have some kind of reference point to correctly assess what I see later,” wrote Bolotnikov in the KDK telegram channel.
