The Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station in Ukraine was blown up by Russian terrorists, causing extensive damage to the surrounding area. Vladimir Kovalenko, the long-term president of football club Energia and mayor of Nova Kakhovka, spoke about the impact the explosion had on sports infrastructure in the area. Kovalenko revealed that all of the sports facilities in Nova Kakhovka were quickly flooded, including four football fields and the base of the Ukrainian national team in archery and hammer throwing. The sports complex that was under construction was also affected. Kovalenko expressed disappointment at the setback to Energia’s plans for promotion.
The long-term president of the football club Energia and the mayor of Nova Kakhovka, Vladimir Kovalenko, spoke about the consequences of the explosion of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station by Russian terrorists.
Yesterday, June 6, the army of the colonial country once again carried out terrorist acts against the people of Ukraine. This time, Russian invaders blew up the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station.

Vladimir Kovalenko said that the entire sports infrastructure of Nova Kakhovka quickly sank after the explosion of the hydroelectric power station.
“Almost immediately it flooded. We have a unique sports infrastructure – 12 hectares. There are four football fields: Tenaga central stadium, artificial surface, and tyrsovoe field.
In addition, the base of the Ukrainian national team in archery and hammer throwing was flooded.”
The Tenaga president said the team had ambitious plans for promotion.
“Before the war, we paid for the reconstruction project of the main Energy arena for 85 million hryvnias. Our team has ambitious plans – we are preparing for League One in the future.”

Kovalenko added, the sports complex that started to be built also suffered.
“Novaya Kakhovka is a very sporty city, and only with the outbreak of war did Energia stop its activities. Very disappointing.
In addition, we have started the construction of a sports complex worth up to 700 million for 22 sports – 8,000 square meters of territory,” Kovalenko said in an interview with Football Ukraine.
