On the night of June 6, Russian invaders blew up the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station. FanDay.net understands how this terrorist attack will affect the football infrastructure of Kherson region.
The cunning and cruelty of the Russian invaders knew no bounds. On June 6, at about 3 am, intruders blew up the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, causing an environmental disaster.
As a result of the destruction of the dam and station, which cannot be restored, the water level in the Kakhovka reservoir began to rise rapidly, and more than 80 settlements were under the threat of flooding. This is a huge catastrophe, an act of ecological violence – a true ecocide. The immediate and long-term consequences of the trespasser’s reckless actions have yet to be studied by scientists.
But it is clear that among the infrastructure that will be flooded will certainly be football facilities. FanDay.net analyze which stadiums in the Kherson region can be under water.
“Energy” (Novaya Kakhovka), accommodates 4000 spectators
The water level in Novaya Kakhovka at the time of publication of the material rose by 10 meters. Energy’s home stadium, where the team played in League Two before the full-scale invasion, was completely flooded.
The Tavria base in Maryanovka escaped the flood, as the settlement is located far from the coastal zone.
“Crystal” (Kherson), accommodates 11,000 spectators
In Kherson at the moment the situation is as follows. The microdistricts of Ostrov, Rechport and the coastal zone were flooded.
“The water does not approach the main arena of the city “Crystal”, which is located near the embankment. The stadium is located on a hill, so it is not in danger of flooding, “said in the comments FanDay.net Executive Director of the Kherson Regional Football Association Oleksiy Krucher.
