Former Ukrainian national team striker Yevhen Seleznev has expressed his desire to play his last football game in Donetsk. The 37-year-old striker, who had played for Dnipro, Shakhtar, Arsenal (Kyiv), Akhisarspor, Bursaspor, Karabukspor, Minai, Kolos, Malaga and Kuban during his career, will hold a charity fight in Uzhgorod. Seleznev is hoping the game will not be his last and that he can still play matches in the Donbass Arena. He commented, “Donbass is my homeland and I miss it very much. Let’s hope this happens.”

Evgeny Seleznev will hold a charity fight in Uzhgorod. It was previously known who would take part in the match in honor of Seleznev. It was reported that Sergei Rebrov and Andriy Shevchenko were invited to the event, but could not attend.

Seleznev does not rule out the possibility that this game will not be the last. Evgeny wants to believe that he can still play matches in the Donbass Arena.

“The last match, and the last one at the Donbass Arena? I want to believe it. Donbass is my homeland and I miss it very much. Let’s hope this happens,” said Seleznev at a press conference for the Football Hub YouTube channel.

A charity match in Uzhgorod at the Avangard stadium will be held on Tuesday, June 6, and will start at 17:00.

  • Seleznev played for Dnipro, Shakhtar, Arsenal (Kyiv), Akhisarspor, Bursaspor, Karabukspor, Minai, Kolos, Malaga and Kuban during his career.
  • As part of the national team, Evgeny played 57 matches in which he scored 11 goals.
  • The 37-year-old striker became the champion of Ukraine, won the Ukrainian Cup and twice the Ukrainian Super Cup. In the 2008/2009 season he won the UEFA Cup. Throughout his Turkish career, he won the country’s Cup and Super Cup.
