Ukrainian coach Serhiy Rebrov’s Al Ain team has finished second in the UAE Pro League, missing out on the championship title. The team failed to win any trophies in the 2022/23 season, despite being among the best teams in the league based on statistics. Al Ain’s players have displayed high quality, especially in scoring goals, boasting the strongest attack with 67 goals, and the third-best defense, with 31 goals conceded. Although Rebrov’s contract with Al Ain expires on June 30, 2023, he is expected to sign an agreement with the Ukrainian national team on June 6.

In the UAE summed up the season for Al Ain, coached by Ukrainian specialist Serhiy Rebrov. The team, despite failing in the title fight, was able to produce good statistics.


Al Ain, whose head coach is Sergey Rebrov, failed to become UAE champions and were left trophyless in the 2022/23 season.

The press service of the UAE Pro League summarized the results of the campaign for the team led by the Ukrainian coach.

“Al Ain’s last season in the UAE Pro League did not live up to the expectations of its fans. He finished in second place, losing first place in a serious battle against Shabab Al-Ahli in the final round. The team also lost in the finals for the Super Bowl and League Cup.

Al Ain, who also lost in the final of the President’s Cup, are among the best teams in the league numerically.

“Although Al Ain finished the championship in second place with 54 points, its players displayed high quality, especially in scoring goals. 67 goals is the strongest attack. The team also has the third best defense (31 goals conceded).”

Al Ain Statistics in the UAE Championship

  • 26 matches;
  • 16 wins;
  • six draws;
  • four defeats;
  • 146 shots on goal;
  • 57% average ownership time;
  • 4985 passes in the opponent’s half;
  • 230 successful dribbles;
  • 85.24% pass accuracy.

Note that in addition to losing the title to Al-Ahli, Al-Ain also lost in the finals of three cup competitions:

  • League Cup: Al-Sharjah (1:2);
  • President’s Cup: Al Sharjah (1:1, 12:13 pm);
  • UAE Super Cup: Al-Sharjah (0:1).

Rebrov’s contract with Al Ain expires on June 30, 2023, but he himself said that he should be in Kyiv on June 6 to sign an agreement with UAF and lead the Ukrainian national team.
