Zorya defender Roman Vantukh reveals the team’s ambition to secure second place in the Ukrainian Premier League (UPL) after securing a bronze medal for the 2022/23 season. The team is hoping for a favorable outcome in their final match against Minay and needs Kryvbas to take a point from Dnipro-1 to have a chance at overtaking them. Vantukh expressed his disappointment with the third-place finish, saying that the team is ambitious and capable of more. Zorya currently has 64 points after 29 games played, with Dnepr-1 in second place with 64 points and a better goal difference.
Zorya defender Roman Vantukh shared the latest news from the “black and white” camp before the UPL 30th round match against Minay.
Zorya, thanks to the victory over Oleksandriya (2:0) in the 29th round of the UPL, guaranteed itself a bronze medal in the Championship of Ukraine 2022/23.
Vantukh, in a comment to the Dawn press service, admitted that the team was not very happy with the third place. In the team, they believe that under favorable conditions, Zorya can overtake Dnepr-1 and take second place.
“I have never won a bronze or silver medal. I think there will be more violent emotions. But we celebrated with restraint, because we had a chance to win silver. Zorya is an ambitious team,” said Vantukh.
- The 24-year-old Vantukh has made 22 appearances for Zorya this season, scoring one goal and providing two assists.
