The first half at the Puskas Arena did not delight the fans with many chances. Both teams try to act cautiously in anticipation of the opponent’s mistakes.
Roma could have taken the lead in the 12th minute. Spinazzola received a pass right in the Sevilla box and put Buna into play with one touch.
Sevilla managed to push the game away from their goal, until Abraham went down in the penalty box in the 32nd minute in a fight with the opposition. Referee Anthony Taylor decided to consider this episode with the help of VAR, and after watching the video replay, he signaled that there was no infringement.
In the 35th minute of the match, the Roma players brought their fans into a frenzy. Cristante intercepted the ball and passed to Mancini, who threw the ball to Dybala, then burst into the penalty area and sent a shot straight into the bottom right corner of Bunu’s goal. So the score becomes 1:0 in favor of Roma.
In stoppage time before the first half, Sevilla could restore balance on the scoreboard. A long-range shot from Croatia veteran Sevilla Rakitic hit the post, although it could have bounced off the back of Rui Patricio and into the net.
During the break, Sevilla coach Jose Luis Mendilibar launched a new attack, releasing Lamela and Suso. It took Spain ten minutes after the start of the second 45 minutes to equalize. After Ocampos’ cross, Mancini tried to prevent En-Nesiri from reaching the ball, which the Roma defender deflected into his own net.

After equalizing, Sevilla calmed down, and the match moved in a more relaxed direction until the 76th minute, until Ibanez played aggressively in the selection, which gave the referee a reason to award a penalty. After watching the VAR, Taylor reversed his original decision.
In the 80th minute, Roma called for a penalty for Fernando’s handball in the Sevilla penalty area, but the referee decided to act consistently.
In the 83rd minute, Roma could snatch victory in normal time. Belotti, after taking a free kick, obtained the ball, which, after hitting, was reflected by the Sevilla goalkeeper. The referee did not notice that the ball after hitting Belotti touched Buna, but did not appoint a corner for Mourinho’s ward.
After 96 minutes of normal time, the Europa League final entered extra time, which was a tense battle.
